It is not a fuel additive or alternative fuel, AdBlue is stored in its own tank on the vehicle chassis and injected into the hot exhaust gas after the engine. This pollution control system is called SCR (selective catalytic reduction) and is used in the majority of new commercial vehicles to reduce Nitrous Oxides (NOx) emissions.
- Quality independently analysed for every litre produced
- Proven equipment to reduce downtime and protect quality
- Cost effective
AdBlue is a slightly alkaline fluid and will corrode mild steel, aluminium, copper, brass and nickel.
Once dissolved, these metals will reduce the catalyst efficiency and eventually cause the vehicle to be operating outside of regulated pollutant limits.
Some vehicles have a dedicated tank for AdBlue which will be clearly marked (usually with a blue cap).
Primarily used in commercial vehicles - especially in the latest generation of diesel powered Euro4 & Euro5 trucks.
